Application: Phantomas

G'day AxG,

I'm seen as [deadcat]Phantomas, 40 years old, living in Nürnberg.

16 years ago, back in svgalib times, I have ruined my aiming with
Quake1 (Phantomas on zeki.brain.uni-freiburg.de, anyone?) rocket launchers,
a discipline that benefits from anticipatory aiming: you count on
stupidity of opponents, rather than smart tactics and fast, precise moves.
(Even more so it is ironic to be accused of being a bot.)

In the meanwhile, there is color tv, facebook, and the BFGs fire and reload much
faster (better battery technology, I know...). Inspired by suthernfriend, I've started
Nexuiz in July 2012, realizing that rocket launchers are for sissies. Now that I'm
half-way over my dark past, my aiming has improved to the degree where learning
changes from embarrassment/shame containment into a more informed, self-determined
style of learning. I haven't hit a learning boundary yet.

suthernfriend and I have decided that performance and the entertainment value of
some servers leave much to be desired, so we built the "Dead Cat DM" Nexuiz server
with a large amount of lesser known maps, and outstanding network latency values.
Soon afterwards, the Dead Cat CTF server was added with a small selection of fine
maps. Last weekend, the Dead Cat 1vs1 server went online with the standard (and more)
repertoire of traditional and improved 1vs1 maps, allowing for 60+ spectators. All three
servers fire at a ticrate of 50 frames/s at each client, giving the user a rather smooth
gameplay experience with more packet loss tolerance than with the default value ot 0.05
(20 packets/s). We are happy to see more and more excellent players on all three servers,
thanks to the AxG clan presence there that clearly attracts the advanced players from elsewhere.

[deadcat] before Phantomas is a sign of origin when suthernfriend and I created
the Dead Cat servers, I have never been part of a clan before. I can be seen on
the Dead Cat DM, CTF and 1vs1 servers, NK#1,2 and Dallas (CTF).
The mechanics and the gameplay of Nexuiz are fascinating, and have proven to be
ageless and classic, unmatched by newer "advancements". I'd like to contribute to the
sports spirit with the pride and respect like I found it in valuable lessons from honorable
freeze, who directed me to step up here to apply for membership to this circle of proud
sportsmen.

Impressive application, the most impressive I've seen so far ...

Welcome to our forum, and welcome to the AxG Trialmembership. There is no rush, I know, and it would be more polite to wait for the others to read and comment on your application. But since most of our players are very busy I will take the full responsibility and ask you hereby to wear the AxG-t tag. As already posted earlier, I find the deadcat server's performance great, just a few improvements in physics and some basic changes here and there, its gonna be soon a well appreciated Nexuiz server.
I ask all my clan mates to support the server, to play there, ask people to join in to play, ctf / dm / free for all / 1on1, lets make this place a paradies for gamers

The server's performance is nice, yes. Some of the wishes could be implemented, others need some more research.
The rest is exercise, exercise, exercise...

May I set "[axg-t deadcat] Phantomas"? Or is it too misleading?

Nah, not that important.
Rather useful at times, when visible user<->server linking make sense.
